How to burn a candle (well)

Cómo quemar (bien) una vela

Do you know if you're using your candles properly? Do you feel they don't last long? Does the glass turn black quickly? Is the wick crooked? To ensure the quality, safety and reliability of your scented candles, and above all so you can enjoy them to the full, here are a few tips on how to burn a diptyque candle properly and make it last.

Although these recommendations are based on the candles from our diptyque brand, they apply to any other type or brand.

Here they are!

  • The first time you use your candle, let it burn for several hours in a row or, at least, until the top layer of wax has completely melted. This will prevent craters from forming around the wick.

  • Trim the wick regularly with the diptyque wick trimmer to stop it from smoking or overheating the glass. We recommend a length of between 3 and 5 mm.

  • Whenever you put out your candle, ideally use the diptyque snuffer or lid to prevent the liquid wax from spilling.

  • Your candle will burn evenly if, once you put it out, you make sure to leave the wick straight and centred (do this while it's still warm so the wick doesn't break. The wick trimmer can help).

  • Never leave your candle unattended.

  • Never place a lit candle near a draught or on a glass, wood or marble surface without a base.

  • Never move your candle while it's lit or just after putting it out, as the liquid wax may spill.

  • And, in general, always follow the safety precautions shown on your candle's box.

Follow these tips and you'll enjoy your candles so much more!
