Philosykos is an ode to the fig tree: its perfume captures all its dimensions, from the green freshness of the leaves to the white wood and milky sap of the figs.
Within the bottle of Eau de Parfum Philosykos by diptyque is the memory of a summer on Mount Pelion in Greece. To reach the sea, Yves Coueslant and Desmond Knox-Leet, two of the founders of diptyque, had to cross an orchard of wild fig trees on foot.
The sun warmed the earth so much that the air picked up the perfume given off by the fig trees and their fruit. In love with that scent, and with Greece, Coueslant and Knox-Leet asked perfumer Olivia Giacobetti to turn it into a fragrance.
In Greek, Philosykos means the friend of the fig tree, the tree whose dried leaves and branches, kept in a keepsake box, were the inspiration for creating this fragrance.
